Family isn’t always blood, recipes aren’t always easy, and great meals aren’t always shared. Through 10 monologues Olivia, a young girl, explores her own identity at a nontraditional family reunion. They share what their favorite meals are along with stories full of personality that defines something that has come between families whether it is separation, gossip, loss, or mental illness to name a few. As they share their stories to add to her cookbook she understands who she is and composes a poem that embodies each meal in her.
