Praeludium Ex-Machina is a surrealist play in poetry devised through third-mind collaboration from Sophie Treadwell's ‘Machinal’ and Caroline Swanson's ‘Praeludium’. In fractured time and distorted memory we ask the question how women are put on trial based on the archive of the subdued, carefully examining inherited trauma of the circuitry of the machine, crossing the wires of patriarchy. We've dismantled that bomb without blame, but here's another one: In a world where a woman's creative worth is forever conducted by the movements of the matrix of domination, do women have a voice in a mechanized world? Is it forever synched to the symphony of destruction? Through this piece we aim not to detonate, but offer a refraction of how its reincarnation perpetuates an environment of surrealistic expectations.
