Real Talk is set in a modern day Midwestern City. Two sisters planning their mother's funeral disagree on just about everything. They discuss their views on issues ranging from race, crime and gun control. It seems like the only thing that these two women have in common is their mother. Their mother is gone now, so they have to find some way to stay connected to each other. This play explores grief, what it means to be family, and identity. Through sharing stories and memories of their mother, the gap between them isn’t as wide as they think.
