Rusalka is acoustic folk music, with female vocals and unique harmonies. Guitar, banjo, accordion, and captivating visuals...coming all the way from Asheville, NC. Bewitching and poignant, Rusalka's music and imagery capture the voices of the elements, dryads, nymphs and the creatures that dwell underground. A musical/visual journey into the depths...these tunes have teeth and tenderness. Using good old-fashioned shadow puppets and handmade technology to illustrate these fairy tales (both ancient and new), Rusalka brings to life the ritual and magic in stories that touch the heart of the human experience. The music combines elements of traditional mountain music, tunes from far-away lands, and the natural world itself. The imagery is inspired by artists such as West of Roan, Anna & Elizabeth, Bread and Puppet, and others who are passionate about reviving the old ways folks used to entertain each other and to make a story stick in your heart and mind forever.
Included in all ticket sales is a $2.00 'Fringe Festival' fee.
